Be The Architect of Your Life
How did you wake up today? Did you feel energized and ready to take on the day or perhaps you woke up tired and zoned out. Did you wake up feeling unhappy, sad or anxious? I woke up with a need to just be still. My list of to-dos was so big that I felt overwhelmed, and it was only 7:00 a.m.
I needed to embrace the day, so I took a moment to check in with myself and see what in my to do list deserved my energy and attention today. I asked myself how each item on my to do list aligned with my energy today and what really mattered. I asked myself: Does the item on this list align with the life I am creating for myself? After this short exercise I felt a sense of clarity and even energy to begin tackling the day. I felt I had a better grasp on what I needed to do and what could fall off my list either permanently or be placed into another day.
We often get up and go. Some of us stick to our daily rituals, habits or let the day dictate how we will live it. The truth is we need to be the architects of our life and take charge. It is us who must dictate what we want from it and not the day drag us into it.
We must first listen deeply. What do I want for myself today and in my future? How do I want my life to look like a month from now, six months from now or a year from now? Time is not forgiving; it will pass and never return so we can decide to push through a change or shift or remain in the same place. Choose to take that course and have that certificate and or knowledge in a matter of months or spend those months thinking about it. Make the decision to be healthier or remain as you are. Your choice.
That said begin by releasing any heaviness or tensions you are holding on to that only cloud your clarity and dismiss your creativity. Make a list of five things that are on your mind. What is the big white elephant in the room in your life? Good, bad or ugly write it out. It could be a desire to do something. Then grab one and tackle it. Begin breaking down all the parts you think you need to resolve or create. Place bite size to dos on your calendar and begin designing, begin creating. To steer a new course, bring into your life new methods.
Take a moment. Creating the life, you desire begins by being aware and accepting where you are today to see the tools you need to move ahead. Then gain clarity of what we want for ourselves and pushing forward on what in our life needs to change or shift. All that is worth having takes work. Remember this, time is not forgiving once it passes it will not come back. Where do you want to be six months from now, a year from now or even a month from now?
Do not allow your life to become stagnant. If you are alive…then live! Once we give up on dreams, we simply die inside. No matter your capacity or your age it is never too late to “design the life you desire.” Ask for support if you feel you need help or motivation. This can be a coach, a therapist, a good friend or even creating your own meet up group. I enjoy watching motivational videos on YouTube to get inspired and learn new ways of doing things. Be still, breathe and visualize what you so desire. Take a moment to indulge in what pleases you at this stage in your life. Do not feel guilty taking this time out for you. You deserve it and when you are happy those around you will benefit from your newfound joy. Change starts with you. You are the architect of your life!
